The gas shield spillway gate is a new type of water retaining structure, which combines the advantages of rubber dam and steel gate. The gas shield spillway gate is developed by 0HI Company in 1990s. Its structure is mainly composed of shield, air bag and control system. The air bag is used to support the shield board to retain water, the dam collapses after the air bag exhausts, and the air bag is lying under the shield board, which can avoid the damage of the dam bag caused by river sand, ice and so on. The air bag is filled with gas and the dam collapses quickly. Each component is prefabricated parts with short installation period; the shield board and the air bag are modularized and easy to repair.
