Yunnan Province Re-promotes Rubber Industry

Natural rubber is an important strategic basic material to ensure national security and people's livelihood. The figures show that the self-sufficiency rate of natural rubber in China has been declining continuously and the dependence on imports has been increasing continuously. Since 2015, the domestic production of natural rubber has maintained at about 800,000 tons, and the self-sufficiency rate is less than 20%. Yunnan is the largest and best production base of natural rubber in China. Natural rubber has developed into an important local industry and made an important contribution to the economic and social development of rubber planting areas. By the end of 2017, the planting area of natural rubber in the whole province was 8.66 million mu, accounting for 49.5% of the 17.51 million mu in the whole country. The output of natural rubber in Yunnan was 438,000 tons, accounting for 53.8% of the total output of 814,000 tons in the whole country. The agricultural output value of natural rubber has reached 6 billion yuan.
